Pierce, Franklin – (Born November 23, 1804; Died natural causes October 8, 1869, New Hampshire) Fourteenth President of the United States of America, (March 4, 1853 – March 4, 1857) a Brigadier General during the Mexican War he completed the Gadsden Purchase and the borders of the Lower 48, he attempted but failed to acquire Cuba and was the first President to affirm his oath of office and not swear.
