Nixon, Richard Milhous – (Born January 9, 1913; Died April 22, 1994, California) Thirty-Seventh
President of the United States of America, (January 20, 1969 – August 9, 1974) elected with a minority
of the popular vote when third party candidate George Wallace, of Alabama, split the Democratic Party
faithfuls’ vote, only President to have resigned the office and did so under threat of impeachment and
removal. Watergate was on his watch, as was the re-entry of China to the international stage and the end
of the Vietnam War. His Vice President, Spiro Agnew of New Jersey, was forced to resign (income tax and
other issues) in 1973 and Nixon nominated House Majority Leader Gerald R. Ford as his replacement.
